Information is provided below on several travel and accomodation options if you are attending the conference. This information is provided for your convenience and does not include every possible option for travel and accomodation during September 2014. The tarrifs given below are estimates only and must be confirmed with the relevant service providers.
The conference venue at Maropeng in the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site is situated some distance outside of central Johannesburg in the Gauteng Province of South Africa. Domestic flights may be booked to land at either OR Tambo International Airport (ORT) or Lanseria Airport - Lanseria is by far the more conveninet choice as it is located close to Maropeng. International flights will only land at ORT and travel must then be arranged between ORT and Maropeng or the surrounding area. Several options for travel between ORT and Maropeng are given below.
Car rentals are avilable at both OR Tambo and Lanseria airports. More details can be obtained from Europcar, Avis and Hertz
Transfers can be arranged through U Travel (or another transfer provider of your choice). Rates from OR Tambo International Airport to Maropeng are R670.00 per three-seater car, R980.00 per eight-seater minibus and R1,450.00 per 12-seater minibus. Rates fom Lanseria Airport are R655.00 per three-seater car, R980.00 per eight-seater minibus and R1,450.00 per 12-seater minibus. Contact Jutta Dudley.
